Islamabad: Even after four days of firing on the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the border between the two countries remained closed. According to the Pakistani newspaper Dawn News, the Pak-Afghan Friendship gate on the Pak-Afghan border could not be opened even for the fourth consecutive day, as efforts to reopen the border failed on Wednesday. The report said that a delegation of the Afghan Taliban administration visited Chaman to condole the death of a Frontier Corps soldier along with security officials from Pakistan. On Sunday, a Pakistani soldier was killed in firing by armed men at the Friendship Gate.

Tension persists
Since the incident, Kabul and Islamabad have been in touch with each other on the issue of closing the border. However, indications have been given that the Taliban will not open the border until those involved in the firing are handed over to Pakistan. Let us tell you that a major border route between Afghanistan and Pakistan has been closed for trade and transit after a clash between the security forces of both sides. According to a report by the news agency Reuters, Abdul Hameed Zahri, deputy commissioner of Chahman city bordering the Afghan district of Boldak, said that the closure took place a day earlier after a prolonged exchange of fire between security forces from both sides.
