Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan has issued a show-cause notice to Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan for not holding the party’s internal elections within the stipulated time. This information came from media reports. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), in a notice, has asked the PTI chief the reason for not holding the party’s internal elections to be held on June 13 this year. They have also been asked to reply within 14 days.
Apart from PTI, the ECP has also issued show-cause notices to two other parties, including the banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) and Balochistan Awami Party, for not holding internal elections, Geo News reported.

According to the notice, Khan failed to give details of the party’s internal elections to the ECP on June 13, the report said. Under the Election Act, all political parties are bound to hold internal party elections on time.
