Washington: The number of Indian-American MPs in Parliament may increase after the election on November 3 in the US. MP Raja Krishnamoorthi coined the term ‘Samosa Caucus’ for an informal group of Indian-American lawmakers. The group consists of five Indian-American lawmakers, four of whom are members of the House of Representatives and another member of Kamala Harris, who is a senator and a vice-presidential candidate from the Democratic Party.

It is expected that Pramila Jaipal, including senior members of the House of Representatives, Dr Amy Bera, MPs Ro Khanna and Krishnamurthy, may win re-election in the House of Representatives. Jaipal is the first and only Indian American woman in this house. There is a possibility that from next year onwards Jaipal may join Doctor Hiral Tipirneni in Parliament. He is a doctor by profession and is leading by less than Republican candidate David S. from the sixth constituency in Arizona.

His candidacy has been endorsed by many Democratic Party leaders, including former Vice President and Democratic Party candidate Joe Biden this time. Former State Department diplomat Preston Kulkarni is leading his Republican rival Troy Nales by five percent of the vote in Texas’ 22nd constituency. Apart from this, the public eye is also on the main area. Here, Indian-origin Senator Sarah Guidon is up against Republican candidate Senator Susan Collins. The 48-year-old guideon’s father is from India and the mother is from Armenia. She was ahead of Collins in three recent polls.
