According to the advice of the US State Department, India is still in the fourth level of travel consultancy. The United States had issued an advisory on August 6 not to travel there in view of the ever-increasing cases of Coronavirus infection in India. The ministry said in an advisory issued on Tuesday, “Rethink the plan to visit Pakistan in the wake of Covid-19 and terrorism.” It is worth mentioning that earlier in the consultation issued on August 10, Pakistan was placed on the fourth level.

The ministry appealed to US citizens not to travel to Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to incidents of terrorism and kidnapping and to the Line of Control due to fears of terrorism and armed conflict. He said that the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a third level travel health notice for Pakistan in view of Covid-19. According to the ministry, the security situation in Pakistan has improved since the time in 2014 when the Pakistani security forces carried out strong anti-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations.

India stands at the fourth level
Taking a strong step, the Trump administration has advised citizens not to come to India. America has not given a clear reason for this advisory, but such advice is given only for reasons like terrorism, civil war, organized crime, and epidemics. The US has set a rating of 4 for the trip to India, which is considered the worst. In this rating, America has kept countries like war-torn Syria, centers of terrorism, Iran, Iraq, and Yemen. In this travel advisory released on 23 August, apart from India, violence-affected countries like Syria, Yemen, Iran and Iraq have been included.

The reason for this advisory for India is the growing Corona cases. It is believed that in view of this, the Trump administration has advised citizens not to travel to India. US agencies believe that apart from Corona, crime and terrorism have increased in India. In this advisory, rising crime and extremism against women have also been included in the reasons for not traveling. However, the Indian Tourism and Hospitality Association (FAITH) has urged the Indian government to pressurize the US government to change the travel advisory.
