Ujjain: A shocking news has come out from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh. The death of 11 people has been stirred by drinking poisonous liquor. At the same time, the SP of Ujjain has confirmed that poisonous ginger has been found in the bodies of all the dead. After this incident, 4 policemen including the Khara Kuan police station in-charge of the city have been suspended. Not only this, 10 accused have been arrested so far in the whole district against illegal liquor.

Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chauhan has directed the investigation of this incident by SIT on Thursday. Chauhan said, ‘Not only Ujjain but the entire state should be monitored on such matters. Wherever there is a possibility of selling such adulterated and poisonous substances, strict action should be taken. At the same time, former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and State Congress President Kamal Nath has targeted the BJP government of the state regarding this incident. Kamal Nath said that there are constant complaints about liquor mafia and illegal liquor business from many districts of the state. As soon as we go to our government, these mafia have become fearlessly active. Our government crushed them and the BJP government is protecting them.

Rupesh Dwivedi, Additional Superintendent of Police, Ujjain district, said that from Wednesday to Thursday, 11 people died due to drinking of any kind of poisonous substance in three police station areas of Ujjain – Kharakua police station, Jeevajiganj police station and Mahakal police station. All of them are either beggars or poor laborers. They said that now what is this substance and by whom it is sold, it is being investigated. He said that for this we are conducting intensive raids and so far 10 accused have been arrested, mainly including ginger manufacturers Sikandar, Gabru and Yunus in the multi level parking of the municipal corporation located in Chhatri Chowk Illegally used to make ginger bundles and sell them to laborers. Dwivedi said that Ujjain Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Singh, Inspector ML in-charge Kharakua police station. Meena, Beat Incharge Sub Inspector Niranjan Sharma and two constables Sheikh Anwar and Nawaz Sharif have been suspended with immediate effect.
Not only this, Mahavir Khandelwal, Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) of Ujjain district told that these 11 people were brought to the hospital in such a bad condition that none of them could survive more than 15 minutes. He also said that it could be any poisonous liquor, spirit or any other chemical too, which will be revealed in the Viscera investigation.

Ujjain Collector Ashish Singh issued a release saying that he may have died due to drinking ‘denatured spirit’. He said that after the postmortem of the dead bodies, the viscera will be sent to the Sagar lab today for investigation and only after receiving the report will you know how they died. Singh said that the administration has been given strict instructions to apprehend those selling such intoxicating substances. He said that the names of two or three suspects have come out in the preliminary investigation and action is being taken against them under the National Security Act (NSA). Apart from this, he said that the names of some drug stores have also come out in the investigation, whose work is being done to verify the employees. The store has been sealed after the spirit found more than the prescribed quantity of Gupta Surgical Medical located in the drug market. Ashish Singh said that the team of the Municipal Corporation and the doctors have been deployed to test the health of the people living in the pavement and night shelters. Through them, the health of the people living in the footpaths and night shelters is being investigated, so that a similar ‘discarded spirit’ has been consumed by any other person, so that his life can be saved.

The state government has entrusted the additional chief secretary to Dr. Rajesh Rajaura to investigate the overall aspects of deaths in Ujjain due to the consumption of poisonous substances. Additional Director General of Police SK Jha and DIG Ratlam Sushant Saxena will assist the Additional Chief Secretary in this investigation.

According to the information received, Rajaura will reach Ujjain tonight and tomorrow and day after tomorrow, he will stay in Ujjain and perform the investigation work.
