New Delhi: The enigma surrounding the disappearance of Gurcharan Singh, known for his role as Roshan Singh Sodhi in the popular TV series ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’, has intensified. Delhi Police’s investigation revealed Singh’s apprehension of being under surveillance, prompting him to use 27 different email accounts. The 51-year-old actor was scheduled to fly from New Delhi to Mumbai on April 22, but he never arrived at his destination. His absence was reported to the Palam police by his concerned father after failed attempts to reach him by phone.

On April 26, authorities registered a case at the Palam police station under IPC section 365, which pertains to kidnapping with intentions of confinement or removal from India. Efforts to locate Singh have been hindered by the fact that his mobile phone has been off since 9:22 pm on the day of his disappearance. Surveillance footage last placed him in Dabri, southwest Delhi, where he was seen taking an e-rickshaw from the vicinity of the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Singh, who owned two mobile phones, left one at his Delhi residence. His final known communication was with a friend expected to meet him at the Mumbai airport. Investigations into his financial activity revealed a transaction of Rs 14,000 withdrawn from his bank account on the day he vanished. This transaction is particularly notable given Singh’s reported financial distress, characterized by numerous loans and outstanding debts.

Singh, a devotee of a particular sect, frequented a meditation center in Chhatarpur, Delhi. Police have recorded statements from fellow sect members and have extended their search to states such as Haryana, Punjab, and Uttarakhand, hoping to uncover any leads that might explain Singh’s sudden and mysterious absence.
