New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to revolutionize the Indian automobile market with the introduction of the fourth-generation Swift. The much-anticipated hatchback is slated for a grand debut on the Indian roads, potentially on May 9, 2024.

In anticipation of its arrival, Maruti Suzuki has commenced pre-bookings for the Swift, inviting potential buyers to secure their purchase with a nominal booking amount of Rs 11,000. This can be done conveniently online or at any authorized dealership.

The latest iteration of the Swift is not just a car but a statement of evolution, showcasing a sleeker design, an opulent interior that draws inspiration from Maruti’s premium lineup, and an engine that promises to set new benchmarks.

Maintaining its signature silhouette, the new Swift introduces refined aesthetic enhancements. According to insider reports, the Indian model will feature bespoke bumpers and alloy wheels, a slightly more elongated and slimmer profile than its predecessor, yet preserving the familiar wheelbase, as detailed by Autocar India.

The cabin of the Swift has been completely reimagined, sharing design elements and components with its siblings, the Baleno and Fronx. While the core layout remains recognizable, with the same infotainment system, HVAC controls, steering wheel, and door switches, the dashboard and the 9.0-inch touchscreen have been subtly reworked. The commitment to safety is evident with the likely inclusion of six airbags and an Electronic Stability Program (ESP) as standard features.

Under the hood, the Swift is powered by an innovative 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine, which takes the place of the previous K12 four-cylinder engine. Maruti Suzuki’s focus remains on delivering exceptional fuel efficiency without sacrificing performance, with power outputs expected to be on par with the outgoing model. Additionally, there’s buzz around the incorporation of mild-hybrid technology. The choice of transmission whether the brand will continue with the Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) or transition to a 6-speed torque converter is still a topic of speculation.

With its launch, the Swift is set to face off against established competitors such as the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Tata Tiago, and Citroen C3.

Prospective buyers should anticipate a slight increase in price from the current range of Rs 6.24 lakh to Rs 8.83 lakh (ex-showroom). The recent price adjustment of the existing Swift model by Maruti Suzuki is strategically aimed at making the new Swift a more compelling and affordable choice for consumers. The countdown begins for the arrival of a car that promises to blend style, comfort, and cutting-edge technology, all while staying true to the Swift legacy that has captivated hearts for generations.
