Washington, D.C.: Delta Airlines has announced an extension of its suspension of flights to Israel, now set to last until December 31, 2024. This decision comes in response to the intensifying conflict in the Middle East and heightened tensions along the Israeli-Lebanese border.

In a press release issued on Thursday, Delta Airlines stated, “Delta flights between New York-JFK and Tel Aviv will be suspended until December 31 due to the ongoing conflict in the region.” The airline has also provided travel waivers for all customers who had booked flights to or from Tel Aviv before the end of the year.

The suspension is part of a broader trend among international airlines, many of which have halted flights to the region due to safety concerns. The conflict has seen a significant escalation, with Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah accusing Israel of crossing all red lines and endangering Lebanese civilians. Nasrallah described a recent explosion of communications equipment as a terrorist attack that could potentially lead to war.

The Lebanese Health Ministry reported that 12 people were killed and more than 2,800 injured in a series of explosions across Lebanon on Tuesday. A second wave of explosions on Wednesday resulted in at least 25 deaths and over 600 injuries, further exacerbating the crisis.

Delta Airlines continues to monitor the situation closely and is committed to ensuring the safety of its passengers and crew. Customers affected by the suspension are encouraged to rebook their travel or seek refunds through Delta’s customer service channels.
