Washington: This time in America, Diwali was celebrated with great fanfare at the White House in the presence of President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. During this, Joe Biden also lit the lamps, and Vice President Kamala Harris was also present in the White House. Let us tell you that this is the biggest Diwali ever celebrated in America.

He also met with Indian Americans during Diwali celebrations at the White House. President Biden said during the ceremony that Diwali reminds us that each of us has the power to bring light to the world. It is a choice and we choose it every day, whether here in America or in India which is celebrating 75 years of independence.

He further said that we are honored to host you. This is the first Diwali celebration of its kind to be held at the White House. We have more Asian Americans than ever before in history. We thank you for making Diwali a part of American culture.

US Vice President Kamala Harris also extended Diwali greetings to everyone during a reception to celebrate Diwali at the White House. Tonight, together with over a billion people around the world, we will light a lamp and celebrate the battle of good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and light over darkness, he said.

He further said, ‘Diwali like many cultures reminds us to see the light in the world in each other and in ourselves. It also reminds us that we should fight for peace, and justice, no matter what force continues to spread hatred and division.

The reception was organized at the East Room, a venue that has witnessed several geopolitical developments, including the signing of the nuclear deal and the joint press conference by then-US President Barack Obama and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in November 2008.
