Minneapolis: Darnella Frazier, the teen who recorded with her phone a video of a black George Floyd being thrown to the ground by a Minneapolis police officer, has been awarded a ‘Pulitzer Prize’ special citation. This video of the teenager helped launch a global protest against racial injustice.
The Pulitzer Prize said that Darnella Frazier was awarded a citation Friday for “without fear of recording the murder of George Floyd, a video that sparked a worldwide protest against police brutality”. Emphasizing the demonstrations and mentioned the important role of citizens in the search for truth and justice of journalists. Frasier’s publicist said Friday that Frasier was not giving interviews to the media. Frasier was 17 when she recorded the arrest and death of 46-year-old black Floyd on May 25, 2020. She also testified at the trial of Derek Chauviny, a former Minneapolis police officer convicted of Floyd’s death.
