New Delhi: A US Marine helicopter crashed on Sunday during a military exercise on the Tiwi Islands, north of Darwin, Australia. The helicopter had about 20 US Marines on board, who were part of Exercise Predator’s Run-2023. The exercise involves more than 2,500 troops from the US, Australia, the Philippines, Timor-Leste and Indonesia.

The crash occurred at 9.43 a.m. local time and triggered an emergency response. Several marines were rescued from the crash site, but some were still missing, according to Sky News. ABC News reported that the safety of the victims was the main priority. The cause of the crash is not yet known.
