Chandigarh: In a major move to support low-income residents, the Haryana government, under Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, has announced a new scheme aimed at enabling families earning less than ₹2 lakh annually to build their own homes. Through this initiative, eligible families across the state will receive 100 square yard plots to realize their dream of homeownership.
Fulfilling Dreams of Homeownership: Two Lakh Families to Benefit Soon
According to an official statement released on Tuesday, this scheme is expected to bring the dream of homeownership closer to nearly 2 lakh eligible families in Haryana, with phased allotment to follow. Currently, 5 lakh applicants have expressed interest in receiving plots through the Chief Minister Rural Housing Scheme, which will ultimately help them construct houses in designated villages.
Key Details of the Scheme: 100 Square Yard Plots for Eligible Families
Under this scheme, beneficiaries without prior land ownership will receive 100 square yard plots in villages. The government intends to roll out allotments in stages, with the first phase benefiting around 2 lakh individuals soon. Financial support will also be available under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), helping beneficiaries to cover construction costs and build secure homes.
Comprehensive Support and Essential Infrastructure for Beneficiaries
J. Ganeshan, Director General of the ‘Housing for All’ Department, emphasized the scheme’s commitment to improving living conditions for low-income families, facilitating a dignified and secure life in newly constructed homes. In recent meetings, Ganeshan directed officials to streamline processes and ensure rapid implementation, ensuring eligible families benefit from the scheme without delay.
Quality of Life and Essential Services as Priorities
The scheme also includes a comprehensive plan for essential amenities. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini instructed officials last week to ensure that all allocated areas include paved roads, electricity, clean drinking water, street lighting, parks, and green spaces, fostering a supportive environment for new communities.
Accelerated Implementation for a Better Tomorrow
With the groundwork laid and processes underway, the Haryana government’s housing initiative is poised to transform lives across the state, setting the stage for a future where low-income families can enjoy secure, well-facilitated housing, marking a significant step in Haryana’s journey towards affordable housing for all.
