Kolkata: A person died after a car allegedly involved in the convoy of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shubhendu Adhikari collided with him in Chandipur in the East Medinipur district of West Bengal. The local people claimed this. However, the police are yet to confirm whether the said vehicle was included in the convoy of former Nandigram MP Shubhendu Adhikari. The accident took place on Thursday late at night after which the locals blocked the road for more than an hour.

Locals alleged that the convoy did not stop even after the accident. A senior district police officer said, “The deceased Sheikh Israfil was crossing the National Highway (NH) near a petrol pump when a car hit him at around 10.30 pm. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was declared brought dead. According to the official, “People claim that this car was part of Shubhendu Adhikari’s convoy, but we are yet to confirm this.” Shubhendu Adhikari or any other BJP leader did not comment on the issue.
