Lakshmi Pujan Method
Start preparing for Lakshmi Pujan in the evening.

  • Place the idols of Mata Lakshmi and Lord Sriganesha on a post in such a way that Sriganesha is on the right side of Lakshmi and his face is towards the east.
  • Sit in front of them and place the urn on the rice.
  • Wrap a coconut in a red cloth on this urn so that only its front is visible.

Do these measures before the day and night of Deepakali
Take two large lamps and put ghee in one and oil in the other. Place one at the feet of the statues and the other on the right side of the outpost.

  • Also keep a small lamp near Ganeshji.
  • Then at the time of auspicious muhurat, take water, molly, abir, sandalwood, gulal, rice, incense, lamp, jaggery, flower, dhani, naivedya etc. and first sanctify. Then greet all the lamps (it is considered auspicious to light at least 26 lamps). Leave the rice on them. First men and later women recite Ganeshaji, Lakshmiji and other gods and goddesses duly Shodshopchar Pujan, Sri Sukta, Lakshmi Sukta and Purush Sukta and recite Aarti.
  • Start writing new books by worshiping ledger accounts.
  • Light several oil lamps and place them in the rooms of the house, near the safe, courtyard, gallery etc. so that no place remains dark.
  • After pooja, keep one lamp lit in the corners of the house.
  • Worship Lakshmiji with the following mantra by placing a small and a four-sided lamp-
    “Namaste Sarvadevanam Vardasi Hare: Priya.
    Ya Gatistvatprapannan sa me bhuyatvadarchanat”.
Distribute prasad to everyone by indulging in sweets, dishes, kheer etc.
  • Bless all the younger members of the household by touching the feet of their elders and celebrate this festival joyfully.
