Washington: The US Supreme Court has dismissed a suit filed by 17 states, including Texas, that it reversed the election results of key states in which Democratic Party candidate Joe Biden won. President Donald Trump supported the suit. Biden has won the presidential election. The Supreme Court said in its brief and unsigned order Thursday, “Texas did not show judicially cognizant interest in the way other states conduct elections.” All pending proposals are dismissed as disputed. “The Supreme Court’s decision is considered a major setback for Trump, who was trying to reverse the results by challenging Biden’s election.”

Supreme Court Judge Samuel Alito and Judge Clarence Thomas said they believed the court should hear the case but did not clarify the situation on the Texas claim. At least 126 Republican lawmakers supported the suit. Significantly, Trump and his campaign team had made allegations of large-scale fraud in the election and challenged Biden’s victory in several states in court. State election officials and the mainstream media say that they have not found any evidence in relation to the fraud. Speaker Nancy Pelosi in the House of Representatives, when the court order came, said, “The court has taken the right step to dismiss the GOP’s illegal and undemocratic litigation to overturn the will of millions of American voters.”
