Islamabad: The United Nations has advised all its staff not to travel with an airline registered in Pakistan. In fact, the United Nations has issued this warning due to fears and allegations of fake licenses to pilots. Pakistani aviation service has been in controversy since the plane crash in Karachi last year. The country’s minister has himself claimed that a large number of pilots in the country have fake licenses. Not only this, it has been recognized in Parliament that airline staff has been caught in crimes like smuggling.
The United Nations Security Management System has issued an advisory saying, ‘Due to the ongoing investigation into the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Pakistan’s fake license, there are warnings against the use of registered air operators in Pakistan.’ This advisory is for all carriers in Pakistan. At the same time, it will be applicable to all UN agencies – UN Development Program, World Health Organization, UN Refugee High Commission, Food and Agriculture Organization, UN Education, Science and Cultural Organization, etc.
40 percent of pilots licenses fake
In May last year, after a plane crash in a residential area near Karachi Airport, several cases of fraud and negligence were exposed in the Pakistani Air Service. Even the country’s aviation minister Sarwar Khan alleged some time ago that about 40 percent of the PIA pilots are fake. Not only this, the spokesperson of Imran Khan’s party has said that it is also known that PIA staff has been caught in many smuggling earlier.
