New Delhi: The Calicut-Dubai flight of the Air India Express flight was taken to Muscat on Saturday night after a burning smell was noticed in the cabin. Aviation regulator DGCA gave this information on Sunday.

Officials said that the smell of burning was coming from a ‘vent’ in the front of the aircraft, so the pilot diverted the flight and they took him to Muscat and landed the plane safely there. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is probing the matter, he said.

In another incident, an engine fault was detected by the pilot of IndiGo’s Sharjah-Hyderabad flight on Sunday, following which the aircraft was taken to Karachi as a precautionary measure.
