Washington: US President Joe Biden has received Indian-American surgeon and popular author Atul Gawande at the US Agency for International Development (USAID). Want to nominate for a senior position.

According to the White House, Biden wants to nominate Gawande for the post of assistant administrator of USAID’s Bureau for Global Health. Gawande has written books Complications’, ‘Better’, ‘The Checklist Manifesto’ and ‘Being Mortal’, which sold and became popular in New York. With COVID-19 causing more deaths in the first six months of 2021 than in 2020 worldwide, I am grateful that I have had the opportunity to end this crisis and strengthen the public health system globally. Gawande is a Distinguished Professor of Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

He is also the founder and chairman of Ariadne Labs, a joint center of ‘Brigham and Women’s Hospital’, ‘Harvard TH School of Public Health’ and ‘Lifebox’, an NGO.
