New Delhi: Due to the second wave of Coronavirus infection, a large number of people in the country and the world were affected. In India too, a large number of people died during the second wave. Now the third wave of corona infection (COVID-19) is being feared. Meanwhile, NITI Aayog member VK Paul last month gave some suggestions to the government to deal with the corona infection. It was said that in the future arrangements will have to be made for the hospitalization of 23 cases out of every 100 coronavirus infection cases.
According to a report by The Indian Express, the NITI Aayog had earlier predicted even before the second wave in September 2020, but this estimate is much higher than that. At that time, about 20% of patients with severe/moderately severe symptoms were told by NITI Aayog to require hospitalization.
The recommendation to segregate a large number of hospital beds after the second wave of Kovid-19 is based on the pattern observed in April-June this year. Reportedly during its peak on June 1, when the active caseload across the country was 1.8 million, 21.74% of cases required hospitalization in the 10 states with the maximum number of cases. Of these, 2.2% were admitted to the ICU.
NITI Aayog says that we should be prepared for an even worse situation. The commission has estimated 4 to 5 lakh corona cases in a day. Along with this, it has been said that by next month two lakh ICU beds should be prepared. Of these, there should be 1.2 lakh ICU beds with ventilators, 7 lakh without ICU hospital beds (out of which 5 lakh oxygen beds), and 10 lakh Covid isolation care beds.
A few months before the second wave in September 2020, the group estimated that 20 out of 100 positive cases would require hospitalization. In this, three will have to be admitted to the ICU. For the other non-symptomatic cases, it was estimated that 50 of these would need to be quarantined at the Corona Care Center for seven days, while the rest could stay at home.
