Pune: Sindhutai Sapkal Dies, an Indian social worker serving orphans and Padma Shri awardee, died of a heart attack in Pune on Tuesday. She was 73 years old. He died at 8.10 pm.

According to the information, Sindhutai Sapkal had a hernia operation a month ago. He was undergoing treatment at Galaxy Care Hospital in Pune. Where today he breathed his last.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari paid tribute to Sindhutai Sapkal on his death. Taking to his official Twitter account, Gadkari tweeted, “The news of the passing away of Sindhutai Sapkal, a senior social worker and popularly known as ‘Mother of Orphans’ has come to the fore. My heartfelt tribute to him. A Padma Shri awardee, Sindhutai took care of thousands of orphans in the face of many difficult circumstances.

Sindhutai Sapkal was called “Mai”. He has run an orphanage named Sanmati Bal Niketan Sanstha in Pune. He adopted more than 1,000 orphan children in his life and made them capable by educating them. Many of these people today run orphanages themselves.

Sindhutai was honored with many awards for her social service. He was awarded the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Samaj Bhushan Award in 2012 and the Padma Shri (Padma Shri in 2021 in the social work category) in 2021.
