Mumbai: The iconic British band Coldplay is making a much-anticipated return to India after nearly a decade. The band will perform at Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium on January 18 and 19, 2025, as part of their Music of the Spheres World Tour. Given their massive fan following, securing a ticket was always going to be a challenge.
Ticket Rush Causes Site Crash
As expected, the ticket booking window, which opened on September 22, saw an overwhelming response from fans across the country. The rush was so intense that it temporarily crashed the official ticketing site, BookMyShow.
Unacademy CEO’s Ticket Triumph
Amidst the chaos, Unacademy CEO Gaurav Munjal managed to snag tickets for the concert. In a light-hearted post on X (formerly Twitter), Munjal compared the difficulty of getting Coldplay tickets to clearing the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE). He humorously shared, “Didn’t clear JEE. But got the Coldplay tickets today. Feels good.”
Fans React with Humor and Despair
Fans took to social media to share their experiences and reactions. One user referenced the movie Dhamaal, saying, “Dad will be so so proud Adi!!!” in Jaaved Jaaferi’s iconic voice. Another user drew a parallel between the competition for Coldplay tickets and JEE seats, tweeting, “Both had same competition.” Meanwhile, a disappointed fan lamented, “JEE clear nhi hua aur Coldplay ka ticket bhi nahi mila” (“Didn’t clear JEE, and didn’t get Coldplay tickets either”).
Additional Show Added Due to High Demand
Due to the overwhelming demand, Coldplay has added an extra show at the same venue on January 21. Tickets for the concerts were priced between Rs 2,500 and Rs 12,500.
