The deceased, a 38, year, old Indian national from Chandigarh identified by security agencies as Narendra, was discovered by staff members early Tuesday morning, prompting an immediate security and medical response.
Local police units arrived at the consulate compound, located in the port city’s Khulshi area along Zakir Hossain Road, at approximately 9:30 AM to secure the location. Preliminary Medical Diagnosis and Formalities
The Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) released an initial assessment shortly after the preliminary field inspection. Aminur Rashid, the Assistant Commissioner for Public Relations of the CMP, indicated that investigators believe the official passed away hours before his discovery, likely succumbing to a sudden, severe health complication while attempting to access the facility during the night.
“We primarily suspect that the official died of a sudden cardiac arrest while going to the bathroom at some point during the night, but we are awaiting final clinical validation.” , Chattogram Metropolitan Police Official Statement
Amirul Islam, the Deputy Commissioner (North Zone) of the CMP, stated that because the deceased is a foreign national holding specialized diplomatic status, strict administrative protocols must be strictly observed. A case of unnatural death has been filed at the local police station to facilitate the state’s legal framework.
Following standard procedures for international missions, the body was safely moved to the morgue at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for a comprehensive autopsy to conclusively rule out any foul play. Representatives from the Indian High Commission are tracking the clinical findings closely, and arrangements are being made to repatriate the officer’s remains to his hometown in Chandigarh once local police issue the formal clearance certificates.
