Relaxation of cultural programs on Durga Puja, previously banned

Kolkata: The West Bengal Government has taken decision on cultural events during Durga Puja. On Tuesday, the state government announced that cultural programs will also be held during Durga Puja (Durga Puja 2020). Earlier, the government had banned such programs in view of Corona. However, instructions have also been given by the government that cultural programs will be held in open places and social regulations should be taken care of.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said – We have given permission for collective mobilization of 100 people but it is very important to follow the rules related to corona. If the operators have more space, then they can also mobilize 200 people. But such programs cannot be organized inside the puja pandals. If this happens, it will be difficult for both the police and the Pooja Committee to control the crowd. Mamta Banerjee has also asked the policemen to be relaxed a bit because the artists have not been working for a long time because of Corona.

Significantly, the political atmosphere in West Bengal is getting hot. The state BJP is continuously protesting against political killings. Mamta government has also come under the scanner for the police action on BJP workers. Meanwhile, the country’s home minister Amit Shah is also going to West Bengal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also going to address the people of West Bengal on October 22 through the Puja talk. It is believed that political enthusiasts may increase in the state in view of the next year’s assembly elections.
