Air India pilot converted cockpit into living room for female friend, DGCA ordered inquiry

New Delhi: DGCA has asked to take action on a pilot of an Air India flight going from Dubai to Delhi. The pilot violated the safety rules on 26 February. A crew member of the flight complained that the pilot gave entry to his female friend in the cockpit and both stayed there for more than an hour. Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) ordered an inquiry into the matter and the airline has grounded the pilot till the investigation. On this matter, an official of Air India airline said that Air India has also constituted a committee for investigation.

According to the Hindustan Times report, the pilot is accused of making the cockpit look like a living room. He had already instructed the cabin crew to welcome his lady friend. There is also an allegation on the pilot that he had fed food to his friend in business class. An Air India spokesperson refused to comment on the matter.

According to the crew member’s complaint, the pilot had asked the cabin crew if there were any vacant seats in the business class. Because her friend was traveling in economy class. The pilot wanted it to be upgraded. The crew member informed him that no seat was vacant, then the pilot got a comfortable bed installed in the cockpit itself. Apart from this, he also asked to arrange snacks and liquor there.

On this, the crew member said that ‘I am not comfortable doing all this in the cockpit. At this point, the attitude of the pilot changed toward the crew member and he started treating him like a servant.
