Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh: In a landmark moment, the first-ever flight landed at the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar district, today. This test landing marks a significant step towards the airport’s operational readiness for commercial services. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) granted the go-ahead for this trial after rigorous safety checks and inspections.

The Test Landing in Detail

The trial flight took off from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) and completed its journey to Jewar Airport in just 10 minutes. However, the plane spent approximately 1.5 to 2 hours circling the skies near the airport to ensure seamless coordination between the pilot and the Air Traffic Control (ATC) team. Upon receiving final clearance, the aircraft touched down smoothly on the state-of-the-art runway at 11 a.m.

A World-Class Runway

The 3.9-kilometer-long runway, developed with expertise from Zurich Airport Authority of Switzerland, is built to global standards. Its advanced design and construction cater to high volumes of air traffic and support wide-bodied aircraft, positioning Jewar Airport among the leading aviation hubs in India.

Preparing for Commercial Operations

Although today’s flight did not carry passengers and only included crew members, its success is a crucial milestone. If all subsequent trials proceed as planned, Jewar Airport will commence commercial operations in April 2025, ushering in a new era of connectivity and economic growth for Uttar Pradesh.

A Game-Changer for the Region

Jewar Airport, strategically located near Delhi NCR, is poised to significantly decongest IGI Airport while boosting regional development. With cutting-edge facilities and robust infrastructure, it is set to enhance travel experiences and attract international investments.

Jewar Airport

Today’s successful trial reflects the culmination of meticulous planning and execution. It also brings Uttar Pradesh closer to having a world-class international airport, transforming the state into a key player in global aviation.
