New Delhi: Ambassadors of NATO countries are meeting on Friday to discuss developments in Afghanistan amid the rapidly deteriorating security situation in the country in the wake of repeated attacks by the Taliban. A NATO official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said NATO Secretary-General J. Stoltenberg and 30 ambassadors are attending the meeting in Brussels.

“Allies are constantly consulting on the situation in Afghanistan,” the official said, adding that Stoltenberg “is in regular contact with allies and Afghan officials.” Monitoring from. We continue to coordinate with the Afghan authorities and the rest of the international community.”

NATO took charge of international security operations in Afghanistan in 2003, its first major operations outside Europe and North America. The purpose of this campaign was to stabilize the government, to create local security forces.
