WhatsApps India head Abhijit Bose resigns

New Delhi: WhatsApp India head Abhijit Bose and Meta’s public policy head Rajeev Agarwal have resigned from their posts. Social media company Meta gave this information on Tuesday.

The development comes within a week of the company announcing the layoff of 11,000 employees worldwide. The company has now given the responsibility of Meta India Public Policy to Shivnath Thukral, who is currently the Director of Public Policy of WhatsApp in India.

WhatsApp head Will Cathcart’s statement
According to the news agency PTI, in a statement released after Abhijit Bose’s resignation, WhatsApp head Will Cathcart said, “I thank Abhijit Bose for his tremendous contribution as the first India head of WhatsApp. They have helped our team deliver innovative services that have benefited millions of people and businesses. There’s still a lot WhatsApp can do for India, and we’re excited to continue contributing to India’s digital transformation.”

Abhijit Bose will become an entrepreneur
Bose joined WhatsApp in February 2019 as the company’s first country head in India. Bose said in a social media post that this week has been tough for all the WhatsApp teams. He said that he would rejoin the ‘world of entrepreneurship’ after a short gap.

At the same time, Thukral will now take over as the head of public policy affairs for Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp in India.

Recently Meta’s India head Ajit Mohan resigned
Recently Meta said that its head in India Ajit Mohan has resigned from his post. He will join Meta’s rival Snap in February.
