New Delhi: In a heart-wrenching incident reminiscent of the infamous Burari case, five members of a family from Rangpuri village in Vasant Kunj, Delhi, have been found dead. The family, consisting of a father and his four daughters, reportedly committed suicide by consuming poisonous substances.
The tragic discovery was made on Friday morning at 10:18 AM when neighbors alerted the police about a foul smell emanating from the family’s flat. Upon arrival, the Vasant Kunj South police broke the lock and entered the flat, only to be met with a harrowing scene. The bodies of 50-year-old Heera Lal and his four daughters were found inside.
Heera Lal, who lived in a rented house in Rangpuri, had been the sole caretaker of his four daughters after the death of his wife. All four daughters were disabled, making it difficult for them to leave the house. The daughters, identified as 18-year-old Neetu, 15-year-old Nishi, 10-year-old Neeru, and 8-year-old Nidhi, were found lying on the bed in one of the rooms, while Heera Lal’s body was discovered in another room.
Neighbors reported that they had not seen the family for several days, and it was the foul smell that prompted a resident from across the road to call the police. When the police broke open the door in the presence of the landlord and other residents, they were greeted by a terrible stench. The sight inside was equally distressing, with the bodies in an advanced state of decomposition.
The police have not found any suicide note at the scene, leaving the motive behind the tragic act unclear. However, initial investigations suggest that the family may have consumed sulphas, a common pesticide, to end their lives. Evidence supporting this theory has been found at the scene.
