Mumbai :Mumbai is grappling with a deluge as heavy rains continue to lash the city, prompting the Meteorological Department to issue a red alert for the next two days. The relentless downpour has led to significant disruptions, including the closure of schools and colleges on Thursday for the safety of students.

Local Train Services Halted
The city’s lifeline, the local train network, has come to a standstill. Waterlogged tracks in Kurla, Bhandup, and Vikhroli have severely affected train services, leaving many commuters stranded and unable to reach their homes. The Central Railway line experienced delays of up to an hour, and announcements at stations informed passengers that trains would not stop at Nahur, Kanjurmarg, and Vidyavihar stations, exacerbating the chaos.

Mumbai Police Issues Warning
The Mumbai Police are closely monitoring the situation from their control room. In a tweet, they warned residents of heavy rain with thunder and lightning expected until the morning of September 26. They urged all Mumbaikars to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary and to dial 100 in case of emergencies.

Educational Institutions Closed
In response to the red alert, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared a holiday for all schools and colleges on Thursday. This precautionary measure aims to ensure the safety of students amid the severe weather conditions.
