New Delhi: The summer sun has arrived with a vengeance across North India, pushing temperatures close to 40°C in several regions even before May. Residents in Delhi, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh are already feeling the brunt of the season, with the mercury soaring and heatwave conditions setting in.
Delhi NCR: Hot, Humid Days Ahead
Delhi and the surrounding NCR region are set for a spell of hot and humid weather. The maximum temperature today is expected to reach 36°C, with a minimum of 22°C. Meteorologists warn that the heat will intensify in the coming days, making outdoor activities increasingly uncomfortable. While strong evening winds may offer brief respite, no significant rainfall is expected to cool things down.
Uttar Pradesh: Relentless Sun, Little Relief
Uttar Pradesh is also in the grip of a harsh sun, with maximum temperatures forecast at 35°C and minimums around 20°C. The intense heat is making it difficult for people to venture outdoors during the day. Although some light clouds and winds are expected in western parts of the state, the chances of rain remain slim, offering little relief from the oppressive conditions.
Rajasthan: Record-Breaking Heat, Heatwave Alert
Rajasthan is experiencing some of the highest temperatures in the country, with cities like Jaipur, Bikaner, and Jodhpur recording daytime highs of 42°C. The minimum temperature has also climbed to 28°C, compounding the discomfort. The Meteorological Department has issued a severe heatwave warning for the next two days, urging residents to take precautions. Some parts of eastern Rajasthan may see light drizzle, but it is unlikely to bring significant relief.
South and Central India: Rain and Thunderstorms Possible
While North India battles extreme heat, South India could see a change in weather patterns, with the possibility of rain providing much-needed relief. Central India, meanwhile, may experience thundershowers, offering a temporary break from the rising temperatures.
“The weather condition across the country is worsening the condition of people. Severe heat has started in Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and North India. However, there may be a possibility of rain in South India, which may give relief to the people.”
As the summer season intensifies, residents across India are advised to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight during peak hours, and keep an eye on weather updates for any changes in local conditions.
