Mumbai: In view of Christmas and New Year, the Maharashtra Government has announced a Night Curfew in the municipal areas of the state from December 22 to January 5 from 11 pm to 6 am. The people of Mumbai have been ordered to be on high alert for 15 days. Apart from this, the Maharashtra government is taking special precaution after the news of a new strain of corona virus was found in the UK. As per the order of the Government of Maharashtra, people coming to Maharashtra from Europe will be sent to institutional isolation for 14 days. While people from other countries will be quarantined at home.
A day before this order, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had said that the situation in the state is under control and his government has no plans to impose night curfew or lockdown. Addressing the people of the state through social media, Thackeray said that experts were in favor of re-imposing night curfew or another lockdown, but he (Thackeray) was not in favor of taking such steps. Thackeray was told that wearing a mask would be mandatory for the next six months.

The Chief Minister appealed to the people to be vigilant during the New Year celebrations. He said that the spread of corona virus infection in the state could not be completely controlled, yet the situation was under control. Thackeray said, “There is better prevention than treatment. Get in the habit of wearing masks in public places for at least the next six months. ‘ He said that those who are not following the safety rules should understand that they are endangering the lives of those who are following the law.
Life getting back on track
Appealing to the people to be vigilant during the New Year celebrations, Thackeray said that a new strain of coronavirus has been discovered in Europe, which has led to lockdown in many countries as there was no other option.
The Chief Minister said that public life in the state is slowly getting back on track, but there is a problem in reopening schools.
