New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India Limited has once again solidified its position as the leader in India’s automotive market by achieving record-breaking sales figures for the financial year 2024-25. The company reported total sales of 2,234,266 units, surpassing its previous best and reflecting a 4.6% year-on-year growth compared to FY 2023-24. This milestone includes domestic sales of 1,795,259 units and exports of 332,585 units, both the highest-ever figures in the company’s history.

March 2025 Sales Performance

In March 2025 alone, Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 1,92,984 units, marking a modest growth of 3% compared to March 2024. While domestic passenger vehicle sales dipped slightly to 1,50,743 units, exports provided a significant boost with 32,968 units shipped, up from 25,892 units in the same month last year.

Utility Vehicles Drive Growth

The utility vehicle (UV) segment emerged as a key driver for Maruti Suzuki’s success this fiscal year. Models like Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, and Grand Vitara continued to dominate consumer preferences:

  • UV sales for March 2025 totaled 61,097 units, reflecting a robust growth of 4.6% year-on-year.
  • For FY 2024-25, UV sales soared to 720,186 units, representing a significant jump of 12.1% compared to FY 2023-24.

This strong performance underscores the growing demand for SUVs and crossovers in India’s automotive market.

Small Cars Segment

The mini car segment (Alto and S-Presso) saw a slight dip in monthly sales:

  • March 2025 sales stood at 11,655 units, down from 11,829 units in March 2024.
However, annual sales for FY 2024-25 reached a respectable total of 1,25,770 units, showcasing steady demand despite shifting consumer preferences toward larger vehicles.

Compact cars (Baleno, Swift, Dzire) also experienced a decline in annual sales to 770,737 units, down by 6.9%, but remained significant contributors to overall volumes.

Export Success

Maruti Suzuki’s export strategy paid off handsomely this fiscal year:

  • Exports grew by an impressive 17.5%, reaching a record-high of 332,585 units.
The company maintained its position as India’s largest passenger vehicle exporter for the fourth consecutive year. Key export markets included South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Chile, Japan, and Mexico.

FY 2024-25 Highlights

The fiscal year was marked by several achievements:

  1. Crossing the milestone of two million annual sales for the second consecutive year.
  2. Expanding global reach through increased exports.
  3. Strengthening its utility vehicle portfolio to cater to evolving consumer preferences.

Challenges Ahead

Despite its stellar performance in UVs and exports, Maruti Suzuki faced challenges in other segments:

  • Domestic passenger vehicle sales saw marginal declines due to increased competition and shifting market dynamics.
  • Mini and compact car segments showed signs of slowing demand as SUVs gained popularity.
