The National Testing Agency (NTA) officially announced the results for the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 on April 20, 2026, marking a significant milestone for over 10.34 lakh aspirants. This year, the competition reached new heights, with 26 students securing a perfect 100 percentile score. Of these toppers, 12 achieved the feat in Session 1, while 14 reached the top rank in the second session.
In terms of social categories, the top tier is dominated by the General category with 24 students, followed by one student each from the Gen-EWS and OBC-NCL categories. The NTA has employed a rigorous normalisation process to ensure fairness across multiple shifts, ultimately utilising the best of two scores for candidates who participated in both January and April sessions.

Along with the results, the NTA released the qualifying cutoffs for JEE Advanced 2026. This year’s qualifying marks are notably higher than previous years, reflecting the increased level of competition.

Roadmap to Admissions: JEE Advanced and JoSAA
With the JEE Main results finalised, the focus now shifts to the next phase of the engineering admission cycle. The top 2,50,182 qualified candidates are now eligible to register for JEE Advanced 2026, the gateway to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
Simultaneously, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will soon commence the counselling process. This will be conducted in six rounds for admissions into National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). Any remaining vacancies following these rounds will be filled through the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) special rounds.
Candidates are advised to download their official scorecards immediately, as they will be essential for the upcoming counselling and document verification stages.
