New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that India’s technology platform for anti-Covid-19 vaccination will be called “digital”. “Jan Kalyan” (Digital Welfare) will soon be made available to all countries. He said that India is committed to sharing its expertise and resources with the global community in dealing with the pandemic.

Addressing the Covin Global Conference via video conference, Modi said the technology platform is being built to make Cowin open source so that it is available in all countries. Expressing hope of humanity successfully recovering from the pandemic through vaccination, Modi said, “We have decided to adopt a completely digital approach while planning our immunization strategy in India.”

He said that this has helped people prove that they have been vaccinated even after the pandemic, restoring normalcy in the global world rapidly. Safe and reliable evidence helps people establish when, where, and by whom they have been vaccinated. The digital approach also helps in tracking the use of vaccination and minimizing the wastage of vaccines.

Modi said that experience shows that no nation, no matter how powerful, can solve a challenge like this pandemic in isolation. “Since the beginning of the pandemic, India has been committed to sharing all its experiences, expertise, and resources with the global community in this fight,” the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister said, “The biggest lesson we learn from the Covid-19 pandemic is that we have to work together and move forward together for the sake of humanity and human welfare. We have to learn from each other and also guide each other about our best practices.” Noting that technology is an integral part of India’s fight against COVID-19, Modi said fortunately software This is an area in which there is no shortage of resources. “Therefore, we have made our COVID tracing and tracking app open source as soon as it is technically possible,” he said.

The Prime Minister said, “Indian civilization considers the whole world as one family and this pandemic has made many people realize the fundamental truth of this philosophy.” “Therefore, our technology platform for COVID vaccination, Cowin, is being built to be open source so that it is available in all countries,” Modi said.

Dr. RS Sharma, Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Authority (NHA) recently said that around 50 countries, including Canada, Mexico, Nigeria, Panama, and Uganda, have shown interest in adopting Cowin for their vaccination campaigns. Also said that India is ready to share open-source software.

The Prime Minister said that 35 crore doses of anti-COVID-19 vaccines have been given in India. These also include 90 lakh doses given in a day a few days ago. Apart from this, the vaccinated people do not even need to carry a piece of paper to prove anything, as it is all available in digital format.

He said that with around 200 million users, Aarogya Setu has become a readily available package for app developers. The Prime Minister also highlighted the adaptability of the software as per the local needs of the interested countries. Modi expressed hope that humanity will surely overcome this pandemic only by being guided by the vision of ‘One Earth, One Health’.
