New Delhi: Xiaomi has joined hands with contract manufacturing companies BYD, DBG, and Radiant to bolster their ‘Make In India’ efforts. The Chinese company has tied up with BYD and DBG for smartphone manufacturing. At the same time, it has joined hands with Radiant to increase its smart TV capacity in India.

Managing Director of Xiaomi India Manu Jain said in a virtual press conference on Thursday that DBG’s unit is already operational in Haryana. This will increase Xiaomi’s monthly manufacturing capacity by about 20 percent. He informed that BYD’s unit will be operational soon in Tamil Nadu. Xiaomi currently has five campuses in India, where its partners Foxconn and Flex assemble phones in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

Jain said, “The demand for smartphones has increased tremendously due to work from home and education from home, due to which there is a need to increase manufacturing capacity.” He said that by expanding capacity, we will be able to meet the increased demand. He said that most of the components used in these phones have been manufactured, assembled or purchased locally.
