Barcelona: The Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024, the largest and most influential event for the mobile industry, kicks off today in Barcelona, Spain. The four-day event will showcase the latest innovations and trends in the world of smartphones, smartwatches, laptops, cars, and more.

The technology world has witnessed rapid and remarkable changes in the past few years, with devices becoming larger, screens becoming sharper, batteries becoming longer-lasting, and wireless technology becoming faster. This year, MWC 2024 promises to deliver even more surprises and breakthroughs, as some of the leading tech companies unveil their new products and concepts.

Here are some of the highlights and expectations from MWC 2024:

  • Honor: The Chinese smartphone maker is expected to launch its new flagship phone, the Honor Magic 6 Pro, which could be the world’s thinnest foldable device. The phone is rumored to have a 7.6-inch OLED display that folds inwards, a 108-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel selfie camera, and a 5,000 mAh battery. Honor is also likely to introduce the Honor Magic V2 RSR, a luxury phone that features a Porsche design and a leather back.
  • Xiaomi: The popular Chinese brand has teased the launch of a new smartwatch, along with several other products. According to leaks, the smartwatch could be the Xiaomi Watch 2, which would run on the Snapdragon W5 Plus Gen 1 SoC and WearOS, and offer features like heart rate monitoring, GPS, NFC, and wireless charging. Xiaomi has also hinted at unveiling a car at the event, which could be the Xiaomi SU7, an electric SUV that was recently launched in China.
  • Nothing: The new tech company founded by OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei has announced that it will launch its first product, the Nothing Phone 2a, on March 5. However, the company may also make some announcements or reveal some details about the phone at MWC 2024. The Nothing Phone 2a is said to be a mid-range phone that will have a unique design and a transparent body.
  • OnePlus: The premium smartphone maker has not confirmed its presence at MWC 2024, but it may surprise us with a new product or a concept. Last year, OnePlus showcased the OnePlus Concept One, a phone that had a liquid cooling system and a disappearing rear camera. This year, OnePlus may reveal something related to its upcoming OnePlus 10 series, or its rumored smartwatch, the OnePlus Watch 2.
  • Rollable Phone: One of the most anticipated devices at MWC 2024 is the rollable phone, a phone that can expand or contract its screen size by rolling it in or out. Several companies, such as LG, Oppo, and TCL, have been working on this technology, and one of them may showcase a prototype or a demo at the event. The rollable phone is expected to be the next big thing in the smartphone industry, as it offers more flexibility and versatility than the foldable phone.
  • Transparent Laptop: Lenovo is reportedly planning to launch a transparent laptop concept at MWC 2024, which would be the first of its kind. The laptop, which was leaked by Evan Blass, would have a transparent OLED display and a transparent deck, allowing the user to see through the device. The laptop would also have a detachable keyboard and a stylus and would run on Windows 11.
