New Delhi: The government has given good news to railway employees. In fact, the Railway Minister has announced that the government is soon going to improve the salary of about 80,000 railway employees. The government is going to take this step to increase the competition among railway employees and to end the boredom of work. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav announced new provisions on 16th November.

Through a new provision, Indian Railways is giving an opportunity to the supervisory cadre of the Railways to reach the salary structure equivalent to Group A officers. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the scope of salary hikes and promotions in the supervisory cadre of Railways in Level-7 was very less. Railway employees will be motivated to do better work due to an increase in salary.

How much will the salary of the employees increase?
The increase in the salary of railway employees will benefit about 40,000 supervisory-grade employees. The supervisor category includes station master, ticket checker, traffic inspector, etc. All these are called field-level employees. After this increase, the employees will get an average salary of Rs 2,500 to 4,000 more per month. Apart from this, the burden of 10 thousand crore rupees will increase in the salary bill of Railways.

These railway employees will be promoted
Announcing the salary hike for railway employees, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that such a demand was being made among the supervisor cadre employees for the last 16 years. The only option for promotion among these employees was to conduct the Group B exam and selection for 3,712 posts. Now after this announcement, 50 percent of the employees will be promoted from level 7 to level 8.

They will also get the benefit of increment
Supervisors of civil, mechanical, electrical, S&T traffic chemical and S&T, metallurgical, stores, and commercial departments will also benefit from the new provision in the salary of railway employees. AIRF General Secretary Shiv Gopal Mishra told that this has been possible after vigorous efforts of the All India Railwaymen’s Federation (AIRF) along with the Ministry of Railways as well as DOPT and MOF (DOI). The association had demanded an increase in the salary of the employees from Rs 4,600 to Rs 5,400.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav says that this step of increasing the salary of railway employees will not have any financial impact on the government’s exchequer as it will be mainly compensated by the railways by saving its diesel bill.
