New Delhi: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has informed by tweeting that by the end of the year, the Vande Bharat train (Jammu-Srinagar Vande Bharat) will run directly from Jammu to Srinagar. The Railway Minister has released a video and told that the world’s highest railway bridge is also almost ready.

Kashmir is also known as heaven on earth. Due to the closure of road and air routes due to bad weather, many times it remains cut off from other parts of the country. Indian Railways has now overcome this challenge and soon the railway line from Jammu to Srinagar will be ready and in just a few hours you will be in the beautiful plains. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav told that the work on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link Project (USBRL) will be completed by December 2023 or January 2024. After this Vande Bharat Metro train will also run from Jammu to Srinagar.

The most difficult task of this project is to build a railway bridge over the Chenab river. Actually, this bridge is higher than the Eiffel Tower and is also the world’s highest railway bridge. Its height is about 359 meters, while the total height of the Eiffel Tower is 330 meters. Before inspecting the bridge, the Railway Minister also worshiped and crossed the bridge sitting in a trolley. He said that engineers will also be given special training in Jammu. The work of making tracks on Chenab Bridge has been completed and now the work of installing electrification and anti-collision safety device i.e. Kavach is going on.

Vande Bharat will be maintained in Kashmir
Vaishnav said that arrangements will be made for the maintenance of the Vande Bharat Express train at Budgam in the Kashmir Valley. As soon as the work of this rail link is completed, the Vande Bharat train will start running on this track. The bridge over Chenab is equal to half a football field and it is a matter of pride. It is built in a highly active seismic zone, which means the risk of earthquakes is very high here. This is the reason that the bridge has been built using 28 thousand tonnes of steel. Its total cost has come to around Rs 1,486 crore.
