New Delhi: As soon as the dates of the assembly elections in West Bengal and Assam were announced, all political parties started campaigning fiercely. All the parties are attacking each other and trying to woo their voters. Meanwhile, the first phase of votes will be held in Bengal and Assam on Saturday. Voting is to be held in eight phases in Bengal and three phases in Assam. The number of registered voters in the first phase in both states is more than 1.54 crore.

Elections on 30 seats in Bengal
Votes will be cast on 30 assembly seats in West Bengal during the first phase of elections on Saturday. Most of the seats fall in the Junglemahal area which was once Naxalite affected. The BJP is expecting a big win from the Junglemahal region. Let us know that in the general elections held in the year 2019, BJP won most of the seats in this region.

On Saturday, in the first phase, polling will be held in nine seats of Purulia, four in Bankura, four in Jhargram, six seats in West Medinipur, and seven seats in East Medinipur, which is considered to be the stronghold of BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari.

Tight security arrangements have been made in the Junglemahal area. The Election Commission has deployed around 684 companies of central forces here, which will take care of the security of 10,288 polling stations.

At the same time, 11 paramilitary personnel have been deployed at each polling station in Jhargram. On average six security personnel will be deployed at each polling station in other districts. An Election Commission official said, “All the 1,307 polling stations in Jhargram have been declared as Left Extremist affected. We have decided to deploy 127 companies of central forces only to monitor polling stations. ” Explain that for the first time so many security personnel are being deployed at a polling station in any election held in the state so far.

Voting in West Bengal will start from 7 am to 6:30 pm. In West Bengal, 19 of the 191 candidates contesting in the first phase are crorepatis. At the same time, there are 2 candidates whose total assets have been stated as Rs 500.

Elections on 47 seats in Assam
At the same time, votes will be cast in 47 assembly seats in West Bengal during the first phase of elections in Assam. A majority of seats in this phase are expected to have a triangular contest between the ruling BJP-AGP alliance, the Congress-led opposition grand alliance, and the newly formed Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP). A total of 295 candidates are trying their luck in the electoral fray for 47 seats. Polling will be held from 7 am to 6 pm. The voting time has been extended by one hour to ensure compliance with Covid-19 rules.
