New Delhi: Sources in the Election Commission of India said on Sunday that the Bihar Assembly Elections 2020 will be held in time. In the wake of the Covid-19 epidemic, some political parties are demanding the Election Commission to postpone the assembly elections. The term of the 243-member assembly of Bihar will end on November 29.

There are indications that elections may take place at any time between October and November. A senior Election Commission (EC) official said on Sunday, “The election of Bihar will be done in due course.” The question is raised. The NDA constituent Lok Janshakti Party has requested to postpone elections in the wake of the epidemic.

Many parties demanded postponement of elections
Some other parties, such as the Nationalist Congress Party and the National People’s Party, have also demanded postponement of elections. During the epidemic, political parties recently gave their reply on the suggestion sought by the Election Commission for the election of Bihar Assembly and some other by-elections.
Guidelines issued for elections

Last week, the Commission laid down detailed guidelines regarding elections and by-elections during the epidemic. According to the guidelines issued by the Election Commission, the voters will be given gloves during the voting. Patients of Covid-19 living in separate habitat will be allowed to vote at the last minute on the day of polling.

Separate guidelines will be issued for voters living in Covid-19 prohibited area. Examination will be done with thermal scanner at the entrance of the polling station.

The election is not discussed in the commission yet
It is worth noting that till now the Bihar assembly elections have not been officially discussed inside the Election Commission. However, through video conference, he was joining all the decisions of the Election Commission from the US and will be involved in the need from here also. But a formal meeting or discussion on the Bihar assembly elections will likely be held within the election month itself next month.
