Mumbai: Ever since Elon Musk bought Twitter, new changes are taking place in the company continuously. Elon Musk is always in the limelight because of his decisions, whether it is about making his account private or laying off employees. But Elon Musk is in trouble because of the layoffs being done by Musk. Due to massive layoffs, Twitter has come on the radar of US Investigative Agencies. Let us know what the agencies said.
Company’s privacy and cyber security investigation
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has opened an investigation into the matter. This information has come out from the documents that came out from the report of the US Parliament Congress. The FTC is already investigating the privacy and cyber security of the social media company. The FTC has been investigating some of Twitter’s controversial decisions since Elon Musk joined Twitter. The company’s massive layoffs include the launch of Twitter blue ticks and the company’s dealings with journalists related to the so-called Twitter Files, according to a new report. In response to the US Congress report, the FTC said that protecting users’ privacy is the right thing for the FTC to do.
The agency is demanding Musk’s removal under investigation
Five months before Musk bought Twitter, Twitter had paid a $150 million (roughly Rs. 1,230 crore) fine for violating a 2011 consent decree. The Wall Street Journal reports that the FTC has sent at least a dozen letters to Twitter seeking more information about layoffs, Twitter blue ticks, and Twitter-related files. The agency is demanding Musk’s removal under investigation. The House Judiciary Committee has also released the FTC investigation report on Twitter. In a tweet, Elon Musk called the FTC’s action a case of weaponizing a government agency for political purposes and suppressing the truth. Republican members of the House Judiciary Committee have also criticized the FTC investigation as harassment.
