Chandigarh: Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu, who is serving a one-year jail term in a 1988 road rage case, has been given the job of ‘munshi’ in the Patiala Central Jail. A prison official said that Sidhu, 58, who came into politics from cricket, will do this work while in his barracks due to security reasons. According to the jail rules, prisoners are divided into skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled labor categories. In terms of wages, unskilled workers are paid Rs 40 per day, semi-skilled Rs 50, and skilled workers Rs 60 per day. Sidhu has been given the job of ‘munshi’, the official said.
Physicians recommended a special diet on Sidhu’s request
At Sidhu’s request, a board of doctors has recommended a special diet for the Congress leader. Sidhu’s medical examination took place on 23 May at Rajinder Hospital in the Patiala district of Punjab. Sidhu’s special diet includes a cup of rosemary tea or a glass of coconut water early in the morning, a cup of lactose-free milk for breakfast, a tablespoon of flaxseeds, melons, and chia seeds, five-six almonds, and walnut.
Between breakfast and lunch, doctors gave Sidhu a glass of juice beetroot, cucumber, basil leaves, gooseberry, carrot, etc., or juice of any fruit like watermelon, cantaloupe, kiwi, guava, or sprouted black gram, green gram, cucumber, It is recommended to give a salad of tomato, lemon avocado. Physicians have recommended giving one roti of cucumber, seasonal green vegetable, jowar, water chestnut, and ragi in the lunch.
In the evening, a cup of tea made from low-fat milk and half a lemon with 25 grams of paneer or soya paneer is asked to be given. Physicians have asked Sidhu to give mixed vegetables, lentils, soup or black gram soup, and a bowl of green vegetables for the dinner. Physicians have asked Sidhu to give a cup of chamomile tea and a spoonful of isabgol in lukewarm water before sleeping at night.
