Ukrainian officials claim that plumes of smoke are seen rising from Europe’s largest nuclear power station after the attack. Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba called on Russian troops to call off attacks on Europe’s largest nuclear power plant (Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant) after the fire. Kuleba tweeted, “If it blows up, it will be 10 times bigger than Chernobyl! The Russians should stop the fire immediately.”
The news agency Associated Press has given big news quoting a Ukrainian government official that smoke is seen rising from Europe’s largest nuclear power station (Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Plant). Actually, the distance from Zaporizhia to Enerhodar is just 122 km. Enerhodar is located on the left bank of the Dnieper River near the Kakhovka Reservoir, opposite Nikopol and Chervonohryhorivka.
The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine has 6 reactors, the largest in all of Europe and the 9th largest on Earth. According to media reports, Russia is currently attacking it with mortars and RPGs. Some parts of the energy center are currently on fire. The Russians also opened fire on firefighters.
Earlier, according to Ukrainian military expert Anna Kovalenko, the Chernobyl nuclear plant was captured by Russian troops on 24 February 2022. Russian soldiers took hostage workers at the Radiation Monitoring Station. These employees keep watching the level of radiation at the monitoring station. Along with this, they have also been given the responsibility of keeping the radiation at a safe level.
