
The country has achieved another major success in terms of missile technology. Today (Thursday) a new variant of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile was successfully test-fired. The missile test took place off the coast of Odisha in Balasore. The supersonic cruise missile is equipped with new technology. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated BrahMos and DRDO teams for the successful flight test. Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy, Secretary, Department of Defense Research and Development and Chairman, DRDO lauded the scientists and engineers for maximizing the efficiency of weapon systems.
A successful test took place in Visakhapatnam on January 11
The BrahMos supersonic cruise missile has been designed with two variants of Anti Ship and Land Attack. According to DRDO, the BrahMos weapon system has been inducted. It is also serving in the Indian Navy and Army. Earlier on January 11, the Navy had successfully test-fired the missile from the INS Visakhapatnam warship. DRDO had said that the missile hit the target accurately.
Features of Supersonic Cruise Missile BrahMos
According to the information, the target range of the BrahMos missile was earlier 290 km. Now, this missile is capable of hitting targets up to 400 km. The supersonic cruise missile has been jointly developed by India and Russia. Its length is 8.4 m and its thickness is 0.6 m. It is capable of carrying up to 2.5 tonnes of nuclear warheads and warheads. The missile is capable of flying at a speed of 2.5 Mach, about three times the speed of sound.

Already deployed many missiles
India has already deployed BrahMos and other missiles at many places. According to media reports, many sophisticated missiles would be tested in the coming week. This test can be done at Chandipur or Abdul Kalam Island.
