New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the country amidst the outbreak of Coronavirus. PM Modi announced in his address that under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PM Gareeb Kalyan Yojana), the scheme of free ration to the poor is being extended for five months. Now this scheme will continue in the country till November. Under this scheme, the poor will be given 5 kg of free wheat or rice and one kg of gram. The Prime Minister said that an additional cost of 90 thousand crores will be incurred in implementing this scheme till November. The PM also said that since this scheme has started, from then till November it will cost up to one and a half lakh crores.
PM Modi said that along with Corona, we are moving towards such a season where all kinds of diseases happen. In such a situation, everyone needs to take care of himself. I humbly request you to take care of yourself. PM Modi said that negligence is increasing since unlocked. At first we were cautious about putting on masks and 2 yards and washing hands, but when we have to take more care then we are being careless. We need to show the same vigilance again, especially in the Containment Zone. Those who do not follow the rules will also have to be stopped, interrupted and explained.
PM Modi said that the local administration in India will have to work smartly so that people do not be negligent. In India, whether head of the village or the prime minister of the country, no one is above the rules.
The Prime Minister said that during the lockdown, the top priority of the country was that such a situation should not happen that the stove should not be lit in the house of a poor person. Be it the central government, the state governments, the civil society people, everyone has made every effort that in such a big country, none of our poor brothers and sisters should go hungry.
PM Modi said that the country or the individual, by taking timely sensitization decisions, increases the power to counter any crisis, therefore, the government brought the Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Yojana as soon as the lockdown. 20 crore poor in the last three months 31 thousand crores has been deposited directly in the Jan Dhan accounts of the families. During this time, 18 thousand crore rupees have been deposited in the bank accounts of more than 9 crore farmers.
The Prime Minister said that there is another big thing which has also shocked the world, immersed in wonder. That is, in India, more than 80 crore people were given 3 months ration, that is, 5 kg of wheat or rice was given to each member of the family free of cost while fighting Corona. In a way, our government has given free grain to two and a half times more people than the total population of America, 12 times more than the population of Britain and more than twice the population of European Union.
PM Modi appealed to all the countrymen to take care of themselves and to be vigilant.
