London: On Saturday, clashes broke out between people and police protesting in protest against the killing of a woman going home in London, Britain. Sara Everard was last seen on March 3 near Clapham Common. She had set out from her friend’s house on her way to her house, but she did not reach her house and found her body a week later. There has been an uproar throughout the UK over the reported involvement of a police officer in Everard’s kidnapping and murder case, and people have been voicing violence against women.
Hundreds of people gathered in Clapham Common in defiance of police and court orders to protest the incident, to draw public attention to the fear and danger that many women in Britain face daily. The video of this rally shows police officers scrambling with protesters. Britain’s news committee Press Association reported that several male officers took many women and tied them with handcuffs and took them from the venue. Many, including the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, laid a wreath at Clapham Common. During this time, many people held posters that said, “We will not be silenced” and “she was just going home”.

Earlier, Everard’s killer and Metropolitan Police constable Wayne Kuzens (58) appeared in court for the first time. The Press Association reported that as soon as the Metropolitan Police officers arrived at the Clapham Common Bandstand on Saturday, the crowd standing there shouted “Shame Karo” slogans. Organizers had planned to hold a rally in other cities of Britain, including London, in memory of Everard on Saturday, but postponed the plan when the court did not allow them to congregate due to the corona virus. Despite this, people joined the protest.
