New Delhi: The impasse between farmers and the government, highlighted by the ongoing Farmers Protest, is intensifying with each passing day. Following last Thursday’s disruption of trains and toll-free movements in Punjab, the United Kisan Morcha has now declared a Gramin Bharat Bandh today. It is worth noting that the third round of talks between farmer leaders and Central Ministers in Chandigarh last Thursday, which extended from 8 pm to around 1:30 am, yielded no resolution.

Sources suggest that the government has proposed the formation of a committee to legislate on MSP, with representation from both farmers and the government. However, farmer leaders remain steadfast in their demand for an MSP guarantee. The next meeting is scheduled for Sunday.

In alignment with numerous trade unions, today will witness a halt in agricultural activities from 6 am to 4 pm. Village shops, markets, and businesses will remain closed during this period. Additionally, major roads across the country will experience traffic disruptions from 12 noon to 4 pm. Toll collection will be prohibited in Haryana from 12 to 3 pm. Following this, a tractor parade is scheduled for Saturday, 17th February.

It is crucial to note that the United Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) is currently protesting against the MSP laws on the Punjab and Haryana border. Amidst this, the United Kisan Morcha has announced a Chakka Jam and Rural India Bandh nationwide. Gurnam Singh Chaduni of Sanyukt Kisan Morcha stated that during the Gramin Bharat Bandh, all agricultural activities, work under MNREGA, private offices, village shops, balance operations, newspaper distribution, weddings, medical shops, and students appearing for examinations will be completely halted.
