Mumbai: Aditya Thackeray, the son of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and a Shiv Sena MLA is facing serious legal troubles in connection with the mysterious deaths of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput and his former manager Disha Salian. A petitioner, Rashid Khan Pathan, has sent a damages notice of Rs 19,70 crore to Aditya Thackeray, accusing him of making false, baseless, and defamatory allegations against him in an affidavit filed in the Bombay High Court. Pathan has also hinted at filing a case in Uttar Pradesh on behalf of the petitioners and witnesses, who allege that Aditya Thackeray was involved in the crime of gang rape and murder of Sushant and Disha.

Pathan had filed a public interest litigation (PIL) in the Bombay High Court, seeking a direction to the police to arrest Aditya Thackeray in the Sushant-Disha case, claiming that there is strong evidence against him. The PIL also demanded a thorough investigation of the mobile locations of Aditya Thackeray and several other celebrities and politicians, who were allegedly present near the crime scenes on the nights of June 8 and June 13, 2020. The PIL also sought an inquiry into the 44 phone calls made between Aditya Thackeray and Rhea Chakraborty, Sushant’s girlfriend, around the time of Sushant’s death. The PIL also requested the examination of all the CCTV footage related to Aditya Thackeray in the vicinity of the incidents.

In response to the PIL, Aditya Thackeray had filed an intervention petition, asking the court to hear his side and make him a party to the case. He had denied any involvement in the deaths of Sushant and Disha and had termed the PIL as a political conspiracy to defame him and his family. He had also sought the dismissal of the PIL and the imposition of a heavy cost on the petitioner. However, his intervention petition has only added to the curiosity and interest in the case, as well as to his own problems. The court is yet to decide on the PIL and the intervention petition.
