Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Saturday said that Cabinet Expansion would be expedited after the Assembly By-Election on November 3. He also said that soon after the victory of BJP candidate Muniratna from RR Nagar seat, he will be made a minister. Yeddyurappa told reporters, “It (Cabinet expansion) was suspended for some time due to various reasons. I will go to Delhi to discuss this with the party leaders. ‘

“It will happen soon after the by-election results are announced,” he said before a road show in RR Nagar. He said, “I am going to make him (Muniratna) a minister if he wins the by-election.” On the other hand, Congress state president DK Sivakumar criticized the announcement made by the Chief Minister about Muniratna and said that it is a violation of the code of conduct. RR Nagar by-election has become a question of prestige for the three major parties in the state – BJP, Congress and JD (S).

Due to the resignation of former Congress MLA Muniratna from the assembly membership last year and joining the BJP, there is a need to hold by-elections for this seat. Congress has fielded H Kusuma, wife of former IAS officer DK Ravi, while JD (S) has fielded V Krishnamurthy. By-polls for RR Nagar seat in the city and Sira seat in Tumkuru district will be held on November 3. Counting will take place on November 10.
