New Delhi: Meta, the company formerly known as Facebook, has been working on developing its AI model for a long time. The tech giant is competing with Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI in the race for AI innovation. These companies are continuously introducing new features for their AI chatbots and integrating their AI into other services. Meta has also finally decided to provide AI features in its products – Facebook, Instagram, and instant messaging app WhatsApp.
Meta announced at the Meta Connect 2023 event that it will add an AI chatbot to WhatsApp. The chatbot will help users with various tasks such as answering questions related to WhatsApp, providing customer support, scheduling appointments, making reservations, planning trips, giving recommendations, telling jokes, resolving group chat debates, and serving as a source of knowledge. The chatbot will also generate realistic-looking images for users, using the latest text-to-image technology.
The chatbot was initially available to a limited number of users in the US. Now, according to a report by WABetaInfo, a new shortcut button has been included in the latest Android WhatsApp beta. The button, which is located in the chats section of WhatsApp, above the new chat button, will allow users to access the AI chatbot faster. Users will not need to go to their conversation list to start chatting with the AI. The report says that the new feature is available in the beta version v2.23.24.26 and that it is being tested by some beta users. It is not clear when the AI chatbot will be available to all users.
The AI chatbot is powered by Meta’s latest large language model research and the powerful Llama 2 model. The company has also partnered with Microsoft’s Bing Chat, which enhances the capabilities of the chatbot to provide real-time web results. Meta’s AI assistant will be similar to other chatbots like ChatGPT, Bard, or Bing, but with more advanced features and integration with WhatsApp. The company claims that the AI chatbot will be available for free to all WhatsApp users.
